Baby Reflux: Spit-Up, GERD Clues & Warning Signs

Projectile or green vomit, blood, failure to gain, or cyanotic choking. Urgent evaluation.
What this means
Many newborns spit up because the valve at the top of the stomach is immature. Thickening feeds or extra pillows is not a home experiment without a clinician.
Baby symptoms to notice

- Hiccups
- Usually normal weight in simple GER
Safe home care (not a prescription)
Upright 20–30 minutes after feeds. Mid-feed burps. Do not thicken feeds unless advised. Never add pillows to the sleep space.
